Position: Machine Operator

Function:
The purpose of this job is to organize, schedule, cut, shear and drill the steel required for the manufacturing of all the trailers or units in the plant. All material preparation work has to be done in an orderly and timely fashion so that the welders do not have to wait for material when they are ready to fabricate.

Responsibilities:
Preventative machinery maintenance is a must and knowledge of machinery operations is necessary. Some mathematical ability is required to figure out material for cut lists and read tape measures very accurately.

Qualifications:
Included in the scope of the machine operator's position is the required knowledge of steel gauge size and lengths, knowledge of trailer components, ability to read Work Orders, drawings/blueprints, ability to check blueprints for errors before commencing the work, the organizational ability to foresee where the material has to be kept and the physical ability to lift and move some of the steel and parts.
